For the second year the US Grand Prix was held at Watkins Glen. The BARCboys played a bigger part this year than in 1961, again being the transport team for the BRM team of Graham Hill and Ritchie Ginther. The Ferrari’s were missing again and poor Phil Hill was recruited by Porsche as the backup for Joe Bonnier who was suffering from back ailments. The new monocoque Lotus 25 was dominant with the improved Climax V8. Porsche had their new flat 8, and the BRM’s who all season were quick and reliable. The late great Bud Hofer took most of the photos. They’ve been sitting for 60 years and have some flaws, but a grand record of the race.
