The Super Swede Ronnie Peterson.  In Canada Ronnie fought with Stewart and got the lead on lap 18.  He hit George Eaton while lapping him and could never catch Stewart to finish 2nd.
 Mark Donohue enjoys a Coke with The Captain Roger Penske.  This was Donohue’s first F1 race.  His Penske McLaren qualified 8th and he drove a superb race to finish 3rd ahead of Team McLaren driver Denny Hulme.
 The McLaren brain trust.  Terry Mayer on the left, Denny Hulme center and Tyler Alexander confer.  McLaren did not have a great season in 1971 but Hulme did finish 4th in Canada.
 The blue eyes of Francois Cevert stare at the lens.  Cevert qualified 3rd in his Tyrrell behind team leader Jackie Stewart and Jo Siffert’s BRM.  His race was good for a 6th place point.
 Colin Chapman gives Emerson Fittipaldi some instructions.  Emmo qualified 4th but finished two laps down in 7th.
 Jacky Ickx for Ferrari.  Ickx had Ferrari’s only win in 1971 at Zandvoort.  He placed enough to finish 4th in World Championship points and brought the Ferrari home in 8th in Canada.
 Jo Siffert drove for BRM the entire season.  Seppi qualified next to Stewart but had trouble at the start and struggled to 9th.
 Chris Amon had gone to Matra for 1971.  He was quick qualifying equal to Fittipaldi in 5th and finished 2 laps down in 10th.
 John Surtees drove for his own team.  John’s best finish in 1971 was 5th.  In Canada he was 11th.
 Peter Gethin drove the last 4 races of 1971 in the BRM.  Gethin finished one place ahead of Eaton in 14th.
 Clay Regazzoni shades his eyes from the afternoon sun.  Ferrari did well in 1971 with Regazzoni winning pole in England and finishing 7th in points.  In Canada Clay qualified 18th and crashed on lap 7.
 Jean-Pierre Beltoise was Matra’s partner with Chris Amon.  He went into the top 3 at the start of Canada and raced tightly with Ronnie Peterson for 2nd until crashing.
 Graham Hill was driving for Brabham in 1971.  In Canada things went wrong and Hill crashed out on the 2nd lap.
 Canadian George Eaton bought a ride in a Yardley BRM.  BRM brought 5 cars to Mosport.  Eaton qualified 21st and finished 15th.
 American Skip Barber contested 4 races in the 1971 season including Canada and the US.  He retired in all 4.  Skip started his hugely successful drivers school just 4 years later and bought the Lime Rock Park track in the early 80’s.
 Tim Schenken was Graham Hills partner at Brabham.in 1971.  The Aussie had a podium in Austria.  In Canada things went all wrong as his car developed ignition problems in the rain and he completed just one lap.
 Nanni Galli drove 5 races for the STP March team.  The diminutive Italian finished 16th in Canada.
 Rolf Stommelen was part of the Surtees team.  He had two points finishes during the season but had problems in Canada retiring after 23 laps.
 Henri Pescarolo had a miserable Mosport Canadian GP.  He crashed in practice and never turned a lap in the race.  1972 was better for the Frenchman winning LeMans with Graham Hill.
 A well known figure in North American racing and BARC boss Spankey Smith.  The very first with a motor home, Spankey became a fixture at CanAm, TransAm and F1 races.
 The famous Judy Stropus handled timing and scoring for Penske.  With amazing skill, Stropus was magic with a couple stop watches, pencil and paper and a very organized mind.
