The front row determined by blind draw has Gordy Mackenzie’s C Jag in the middle of the front row. Fred Windridge in the Kelso Lister-Chev on pole and E. D. Martin’s 4.1 Ferrari outside. Paul O’Shea sits in the Sadler Special - renamed Nisonger Special - second row.

Good look at Windridge in the #36. O’Shea in the Nisonger and Walt Hansgen on the outside. The 3rd row has Phil Forno in #62 Lister-Jag; Ed Crawford in the #61 middle and eventual winner George Constantine in the Aston Martin outside.

Drag race to the first turn. Windridge in the Lister-Chev has the lead with George Constantine’s Aston in 2nd then Paul O’Shea in the Nissonger Special and Walt Hansgen in the Costin Lister Jaguar side by side.

End of the 2nd lap a bit blurry. Winridge leads and Constantine is totally crossed up in second with the Hansgen’s Lister, O’Shea in the Nisonger and Sessler’s Porsche’s following.

Fred Windridge in the fierce Kelso-Chev Lister leads Walt Hansgen in the Costin Lister. Both would retire.

The Fred Windridge Lister-Corvette was a very fast race car but was often failed. A few laps into the race the big V8 continues to lead the Hansgen Jaguar powered Lister.

The #62 Lister Jag was started by Phil Forno. When Hansgens faster car failed, Alfred Momo waived Forno in. Hansgen got in the older car and pushed hard to finish second to Constantine’s Aston Martin

Bob Holbert in the RSK Porsche. Holbert and Don Sessler had a good fight with Holbert edging the other Porsche to a great 3rd overall.

Bob Holbert fight with Ed Crawford in the older Lister-Jag. Crawford would DNF and Holbert would take 3rd OA.

Don Sessler in the Porsche RSK he and Holbert drove at Sebring finished 4th overall behind Holbert’s car.

The always Amazing Denis McCluggage drove Briggs Cunningham’s older Porsche 550RS and took it to 5th overall in front of much bigger engined cars.

E. D. Martin’s big V12 Ferrari leads John Walsh in the copper colored Lister-Bristol. The Ferrari was geared for top speed rather than acceleration and finished 9th overall.

Gaston Gus Andrey in his 2 liter Ferrari 500TR was 9th overall and 2nd in EM. Gus would win the SCCA national championship in 1959.

Joe Giubardo had this short nose Maserati 300S. Joe drove the Maser to 10th and 2nd in D Modified.

Alan Connell’s Maserati 250S. For some reason race results called it a Ferrari. Connell was a wealthy Texan but drove hard and won D Modified and 6th overall.

Giubardo’s Maserati races with John Fitch in the 2 liter Cooper Monaco. Fitch would fail to finish, Giubardo was 10th.

Connell accelerates ahead of Mackenzie’s C Type Jag with Denise McCluggage in the #23 Porsche coming up through the field.

John Fitch in an early 2 liter Cooper Monaco, sometimes called Bobtail has a laugh with a friend on the grid.

Jim Jeffords in the all conquering Nickey Chevrolet Purple People Eater had car troubles and faded to finish 4th.

Jeffords Chev is smoking and barely made it to the finish. A very rare mechanical problem for this beautifully prepared team.

Bob Grossman in his Ferrari California inherited the lead when Grossman dropped back. Here he and his passenger are enjoying a nice drive on his victory lap.

The big Ferrari heels over in one of the tight chicanes followed by a big Healey.

Jeffords in his bright orange helmet in his bright purple people eater laps a Healey with Ben Moore’s red #18 Corvette in pursuit.

The fearless Frank Dominianni’s Corvette shows the usual damage. Frank always hit something. But he also was very fast. This day, his hit cost him a few positions and he ended up 6th.

In 1959 the Porsche Carerra raced in FP. Harry Blanchard won in #149 passes Nagel Bridwell.

The Ferrari Chev of Jordan King gets lapped by Bob Holbert and Don Sessler

BARC member Charley Kurtz in his A C Bristol was 3rd in EP. Charley would win several races in 1959.

Jordan King was 2nd in EP in his yellow AC Bristol. The tall Bristol straight 6 motor made the most fabulous sounds.

Walt Hansgen’s Stanguellini leads Dave Adams Lotus. Hansgen won F Jr and was 2nd in the F JR, GM race.

Harry Carter in the all new Lotus 18 led easily but never finished.

Sy Kabak’s 2 liter Lotus 17 is stalked by Alan Connell’s Maserati and John Fitch’s Cooper. Kabak won EM and Connell DM

A 1500 OSCA leads the 2 liter Ferrari of Gil Geitner

Practice day with Constantine’ Aston leading Bucher’s Lotus and Ralpht Troiano’s Alfa Giulietta.

Bob Bucher, BARC hero, in his Lotus Club #29 chases Norm Webb’s similar car. Bucher was 2nd in GM.

Binghamton’s Gerry Rollo was a good guy and campaigned his Morgan around the north east.

Another shot of Rollo who would drive to 20th against the dominating A C Bristols.

While this Healey didn’t win, we knew it was driven well and it was John Colgate behind the wheel.

John Kingsley’s very fast Alfa comes up to lap #142 Gordon Wing’s Sprite.

Battle royal in GP. Reed Rollo #73 leads Bob Grossman #97, Norm Webb in 85 and R. Hayes in #208. Webb would win, Rollo came 4th and Hayes 5th.

J Murray in his 100-4 leads John Colgate’s 6 cylinder and that is the way they finished.

Watkins Glen mechanic Dick Cosgrove in his TR-3. Like the Morgan, the Triumph’s were outgunned by the AC Bristols.

The Ferrari 250 TR of Jim Johnston was just not the car for Montgomery. Johnston was 15th.
