LONG AGO, BEFORE THE INTERNET, THE WAY TO COMMUNICATE WAS BY MAIL. RACE ORGANIZERS MAILED OUT THOUSANDS OF PAPER ENTRY FORMS TO LICENSED DRIVERS AND ENTRANTS. THE FORM WAS COMPLETED, AN ENVELOPE FILLED OUT, THE ENTRY AND A CHECK ENCLOSED, AND OFF IT WENT.
A GREAT CAR GUY, DAN FITZGERALD, SENT BARCBOYS DOZENS OF RACE ENTRIES. DON GOT THESE WHILE SERVING IN THE ARMY AT FORT KNOX. HE WAS A MAJOR AT THE TIME AND RACED A LOTUS 7 AND A FORMULA VEE. THANKS TO HIM, WE BRING YOU WHAT THOSE FORMS LOOKED LIKE IN THE MID 1960’S - FRONT AND BACK AND SOMETIMES MAPS, EVEN THE RULES AND REGULATIONS. EACH ENTRY HAS A BIT OF HISTORY ABOUT THESE FAMOUS & NOT SO FAMOUS TRACKS. THE ENTRY FEES WERE REMARKABLY CHEAP, THE PRO PRIZE MONEY VERY LITTLE. SOME OF YOU WILL REMEMBER THESE ENTRY FORMS, THE YOUNGERS WILL WONDER WHAT THEY ARE. SOME OF THE TRACKS ARE LONG GONE, MANY STILL HOST REGIONAL EVENTS AND SOME ARE STILL HOSTING THE BIGGEST AND FASTEST SERIES AROUND.
