 Jack Brabham leans on a Chevy Parkwood station wagon.  Brabham had just been crowned 1959 F1 World Champion.  The trip to the US was for fun and a big payday.

 Early in the race Black Jack Brabham, head down and flat out over the top of the Watkins Glen hill.  Moss and Bonnier follow.
 Those who only recently have gone to the Glen can see the great esses up and over the hill have not changed since 1956.  Here two of the F1 cars take the line.  Note not a guardrail in sight.
 This is how we remember Brabham.  Super fast, driving hard, charging hard every lap. Brabham was also the father of a couple great Brabham racing sons.

 Olivier Gendebien out in practice in his Cooper.  The 4 F1 cars distanced themselves immediately and had a good race for the first 25 laps.
 Sweden’s Joe Bonnier.  A worldly man, sophisticated and always perfectly dressed.  He was also very fast and won in F1 and sports cars.
 Gendebiens Cooper.  Look at the Citroen in the background.  This was Jellybeans car he drove from New York City.  After the race, his key broke in the ignition and the car to be hot wired to start.  It was reported he drove a SAAB, but barcboys know

 Peter Ryan drives the Sadler Formula Libre special.  Sadler also raced in his Sadler MKIV sportscar.  The car was quick but the Chevy engine expired a little over half way.
 Stutz Plaisted raced his F2 Cooper.  Stutz was an avid racer while also being a pilot in the Air Force.  He took the Cooper to 6th.
 The race is over and a few of the local upstate NY drivers help push the factory Cooper F1 car onto its trailer for the ride to downtown Watkins Glen.  That’s how it was done.
 The Vestal, NY crew is working.  L to R; Doc Voigt, Mrs. Forno, Bobby Forno, Ward Allen and barcboy Butch Hollenbeck.  The Binghamton area crew provided lots of workers for the Glen.  The Forno’s owned Continental motors in Vestal, Doc Voigt raced a
